Sunset
Over the past 2 weekends I have had the opportunity to watch the sunset over the ocean. The first time was in half moon bay with my husband and some special friends of ours. The second time was in Marina Del Ray during a worship gathering. The sun sets every night and I never pay any attention to it. On both of these occasions I was moved by it's beauty. This got me to thinking yesterday about all the other beautiful things in life that I just don't notice. I am always so busy doing things that I think are important, but really just don't matter in the big picture. I often think of friends that I want to call or e mail and I'll get to it later, but never do. My standard answer to my kids it just a minute I'm busy. I'm thinking that I was given those 2 awesome experiences as a wake up call. Hello...it's time to savor God, life, friends and family!!! It's time to appreciate all the little things! It's time to just slow down and watch the sunset !!!!

So many of us are discovering this truth right now. Learning to slow down and really SEE what is around us, whether that be God's beautiful creation or people we tend to blow off. We don't INTEND to blow people off, but the business of our lives puts blinders on our eyes. I know I am right there with you.
Hey Diane, that is beautiful! Welcome to the blog world. So good to share with you. I too love your blog name, it's perfect. We are all striving for transparency, we just need to get ourselves out there. Thank you for opening up your heart in this way. Looking forward to growing closer with you.
Yeah! Check out Diane banging on all 8 cylinders!!
You are blowing me away .. I love your heart ..
I too sometimes forget to smell the flowers. We can help each other savor the joy of life that God put here for us!
It's free and it's wonderful!
You amaze me ..
Dale
hey, that sunset was spectacular! the bag-piper blowin' "amazing grace" while the sun seemed to drop right into the ocean...PERFECT!
hey, your post made me think about an assignment that i had in a "critical thinking" class in college. we had to do a SLOW WALK for 30 minutes and i mean REALLY SLOW, maybe 50 ft in the entire time. i used a near by park that i'd been to on many occasions. this time it was different: i had missed certain things when i walked at normal speed. one thing that stood out was three little birds hopping around on the ground fighting over a cheeto snack.
thanks for helping me to think and remember.
Hey Diane!
Sorry I've been away from Blogland for a couple of days and missed your arrival...awesome to have you!!
I read Rich's comments and it reminded me of something we did after we read the book "Enter the Worship Circle." We went to a park in Danville and sat under this enormous tree and just thought about the tree. The roots, the branches, the leaves. Pondered the entire creation and why God made it the way He did. Marveling in the detail...this whole life and following Christ thing is SO MUCH BIGGER than the tiny windows we look through to see it.
Thanks for the memory!
